Rise of Hastur - Shoggoth

This is the first of a series of concept images I will be posting for an RPG that I am currently working on. The game is heavily involving the universe of unspeakable horror created by H.P. Lovecraft. This is my take on a Shoggoth and it will tentatively be the first boss in the game.

The game's working title is "The Rise of Hastur" and it will follow the exploits of  a man named William Augustine as he investigates bizarre and horrifying incidents in and around the city of Arkham, Massachusetts in the 1930s.

Stay tuned for plenty more production art from the game over the next few weeks!

Who is The Gentleman?

I'd like to formally announce the arrival of Second Garage Productions. It is a film production studio formed by Kai Junker-Andersen, Jake MacLean, Natasha Seredoka, Mark Budgell and myself. This is our very first short film, "Who is The Gentleman?". We will be making many more films starring The Gentleman as well as several other types of video such as movie/game/comic book reviews, other short films and a few other surprises in the future.

Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles)

Just finished this one last week. This painting took quite some time and traveled with me all the way to Hilton Head, SC and back before completion.

Silence

A portrait of a Silent that I did while showing at Reversed Polarity 2013 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Ood Sigma (Paul Kasey)

Fourth in my "Doctor Who Month" series. I got a little carried away with texturing on this one, but I like the effect it achieved.

Rose Tyler (Billie Piper)

Third in my "Doctor Who Month" series, the indomitable Rose Tyler. Working on perfecting my newfound techniques.

Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)

I completely changed my technique for this one and I was very pleased with the result.

Donna Noble (Catherine Tate)

Who doesn't love Donna? For my first attempt at a portrait of a female, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect subject.

Commander Strax (Dan Starkey)

This was the first of my "Doctor Who Month" series that I did leading up to Reversed Polarity 2013. Strax is a very visually complex little potato man, but I love him just the same.

Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg)

Did this one while gearing up for GenreCon 2013 in Guelph, Ontario. This was the last of my black-and-white portraits. Coulson Lives!

Loki (Tom Hiddleston)

My first foray into colour! I did this over the course of one day (and night) while I was showing at GenreCon 2013 in Guelph, Ontario. I was very pleased with result and don't see any reason why I shouldn't continue working in colour.

Ming of Mongo (Max von Sydow)

A portrait I did as an homage to my all-time favorite artist, Alex Ross.
This one was difficult and took approximately 80 hours to complete to my satisfaction.

Judoon

A quick portrait I did as a teaching tool for a Photoshop class.

Matt Smith - The Eleventh Doctor

My most realistic portrait up to this point. I'm getting closer to the goal I wanted to achieve with this project.

David Tennant - The Timelord Victorious

Everybody has a Doctor, and for me, David Tennant is it.

Christopher Eccleston - The Ninth Doctor

Finally into the New Doctors, beginning with one of the most underrated Doctors. Chris Eccleston was great in the role but unfortunately didn't give himself enough time to become one of the truly great Doctors.

Paul McGann - The Eighth Doctor

Much darker blacks in this one. I've started to get very comfortable with my style at this point.

Sylvester McCoy - The Professor

Getting better, but I needed to go back to using darker darks.

Colin Baker - The Sixth Doctor

Again, another guy with huge hair. Upon reflection, I'm not really too keen on this one. I may do a new one in the future depending on response to this one.

Peter Davison - The Fifth Doctor

By this point I had started to get a handle on smooth shading.

Tom Baker - The Fourth Doctor

This man is a nightmare of hair.

Jon Pertwee - Man of Mystery

My third portrait, still trying new things.

Patrick Troughton - The Cosmic Hobo

My second portrait. I'm getting better and trying new things at this point.

William Hartnell - The First Doctor

This was my very first attempt at a digital portrait. William Hartnell, the first Doctor.
